The committee will maintain oversight of NSFAS until it functions properly. They have also requested monthly reports on:

Skills Audit and Critical Positions
The committee has called for a skills audit at NSFAS to pinpoint employees who may not be suitable for their roles. They have also emphasized the need for the scheme to promptly fill essential positions, such as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Internal Auditor.
Leadership Decisions by the New Higher Education Minister
Newly appointed Higher Education Minister Dr. Nobuhle Nkabane has made important decisions regarding NSFAS leadership. Although Nomvalo’s term was initially intended to last two years, it will end on 31 December 2024, or when a new NSFAS Board is appointed.
During this transition period, the Minister appoints a new Board with a diverse skill set. Nomvalo will facilitate this transition if the new Board is in place before the end of the year.
Concerns Over NSFAS Administrative Budget
NSFAS cannot claim a lack of funds for addressing student issues while spending approximately R2 million monthly renting a building.
