SRO has an organizational structure that facilitates its work and allows it to carry out its duties and responsibilities in a flexible and efficient manner.

HE The General President’s Sector
The following departments, units, and committees report to HE the General President:
- The General Department of Human Resources, which includes the Personnel Department, the Training Department, and the Medical Services Department.
- The General Department for Contracting , which includes the Tenders, Insurance and Compensation Department; the Payments Department; and the Quality Control Department.
- The Public Relations Department.
- The Financial Control Department.
- The Tenders and Procurement Committee, the Advisors Group, the legal affairs units, Security and Follow-up, in addition to HE’s Office staff, and the Secretary of the Board.
Within SRO’s organizational structure, the following three sectors fall under the direct supervision of HE the General President:
The Technical Affairs Sector
Headed by the Vice President for Technical Affairs, this sector includes:
- The General Department for Facilities and Services, which in turn includes: the Facility Maintenance Department, the Engineering Department, the Housing and Facility Protection Department, and the Car Pool Department.
- The Expansion Team also falls under this Sector too.
Operational Affairs Sector
This sector is headed by the Vice President for Operations and includes:
- The General Maintenance Department, which includes the Maintenance of Moving Equipment Department, the Railway Maintenance Department, and the Equipment Maintenance Unit.
- The Transportation and Marketing General Department, which includes the Quality Control Unit.
- The Train Traffic Management Department.
- The Passenger Services Department.
- The Freight Resources Department.
- The Safety Department.
- SRO’s two branches in Riyadh and Al-Ahsa are also part of this sector.
The Planning and Budgeting Sector
This sector is headed by the Vice President for Planning and Budgeting. It includes the following departments and divisions:
- The Planning and Budget Implementation Department, which includes a single section, namely the Accounting Section.
- The Materials Department which includes two sections: the Purchasing Section and the Warehousing Section.
- The Scrapping Department.
- The Inventory Control Department.
- The Lands and Survey Department.
- The Civil Guards Division, and the Documents and Archives Center.
