Al Hokail inspects the work sites of Haramain High Speed Rail Project
H.E President of Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) Abdul Aziz Al Hokail has said that SRO coordinates with all relevant parties in order to avoid any delays and ensure the completion of HHR project as per schedule, adding that through joint meetings, communications and organization of joint workshops among the pertinent bodies, many of the obstacles which hinder the work progress of the project particularly the relocation of services lines within the scope of the stations and along the track of the project as well as the compensations of property owners that have been expropriated in favor of the project have been overcome.
Al Hokail confirmed that the project is implemented according to high standards and all stages of the project are subject to a thorough review by the supervising consultants of the project. H.E expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques who instructed all departments to facilitate the implementation of the project and deal with it as an exceptional case to ensure its completion as per the planned schedule.
During his visit which included sites in Makkah, Jeddah and Medina and along the project path, Al Hokail inspected the stations' sites as well as Al Haramain Road where the work is progressing well to remove of real estate from the railway path in preparation for the start of the implementation of the path on this strategic road. Also the visit included the follow-up the work of the committee in charge of land acquisition and the work of removing the bridges on Al Haramain Road to reconstruct nearby bridges and flyovers according to new designs to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
Al Hokail also held several meetings with the Consortiums, which undertake the implementation of the project and he was shown a presentation on the progress of work and obstacles facing them. Al Hokail added that that the railway station sites have been handed over to the contractors, except part of the Makkah station which will be handed over next month. He also instructed the Contractors to complete the engineering designs for the remaining path and appoint more workers, deploy more equipment and increase working hours in order to complete the phases of the project according to schedule planned.
The Director of Public Relations and Media of SRO Mohammed Abu Zaid said that the president of SRO held a meeting with representatives of Al Shoula Consortium that implements the second phase of the project to stand on the preparations for the implementation of this important phase, and viewed the amendments that have taken place in railway tracks in the light of a number of variations and data field. Al Hokail priced the efforts made by everyone and expressed his satisfaction with the level of readiness of the Consortiums, praising the technical equipment that are seen at the site.
